About

Teaching is amazing but so difficult and exhausting.  With over 10 years in my profession, I can say that teaching is the most demanding job I’ve ever had.  We are required to be to work early and we often leave late. Breaks? What’s that? We are responsible to students, parents, administrators and ourselves.  And at the end of the day, we are often scrutinized by society.  This is not good, not good at all. Not if we want to attract bright, capable teachers that will invest in future generations.

According to a report by the Alliance for  Excellent Education, around a half a million teachers move or leave the profession every year. Inequitable funding and declining social stature of teachers are just some of the contributing factors.

All external judgment aside-I believe I am a great teacher. I am always working to add to my skill sets, redefine my routines, and I care deeply about my students.  More than anything, I want them to find their own personal success. So, let’s begin the conversation and share what we think are indicators of successful teachers.  This is important.  Our children are worth it.
